Pol選手、優勝おめでとう！
North Sails JAPANで開発中のテストセールを使用したスペインのPol Mateu選手が、7月19-20日で行われたOP級カタルーニャ選手権で優勝しました！
Pol Mateu選手は2020世界選手権の日本代表の権利を獲得しこの1年で素晴らしい成長を遂げたセーラーの1人です。15歳で日本とスペインを行き来し、多くの情熱をセーリングに注いできました。彼のセーリングを愛する気持ちが結果に結びつきました。
日本で開発、製造、テスト、リカットしたセールが海を越えて活躍し始めています。
関わるものとして、非常に誇らしく思います。
以下、Pol選手本人から届いたレースレポートとコメントです。

After 3 days of Racing with 12 races, I managed to get 1st position with 2/8/3/10/1/5/2/(28)/5/1/3/5.
Intensive year with lot of changes, sailing in JPN in Enoshima with the EYCJ team, sailing in Valencia in March for OPTIORANGE.
Then the COVID-19 shut down that made sailing impossible, many emotions and the uncertainty of the unknown around the Globe.
The Championship was organized in CNM (Club Nautic Masnou) the club where I was raised as a beginner sailor and the club with I belong before my parents moved to JPN for professional reasons.
July ´20 with the concurrence of summer holidays I was in Spain with my parents and had the possibility to participate in the Regional Championship, under acceptance of Catalonian Sailing Federation (FCV) were best 50 sailors of G1 (A Class) participate.
We had 3 exceptional days of sailing with winds from East to South and South West and intensity from 8 to 17knots. Tough conditions ranging from flat to choppy and wavy sea conditions.
I was not very confident of my performance at first, I didn´t think that I could play for the win. But after 4 races I was confident enough to race like I always do and sail the best I can.
I concentrated on my speed and making the right decisions, and even after bad starts I still made the best I could to finish in the top 5.
The Last day, after 8 races, I was very nervous because I was in second, 4 points behind the first (last year she was 4th at Europeans in FRA). I told myself is to keep it simple and stop worrying about results. I focused on each start, each upwind, and downwind to do my best, limiting all risks.
Thank You to my heroes and coaches, Jordi Xammar because you always inspire me to do better and Shirashi-san to have made a great sail that has travelled six times the distance between Spain and Yokohama:

3日間、計12レースを2-8-3-10-1-5-2-(28)-5-1-3-5の成績で終え、優勝する事が出来ました。
今年はとても目まぐるしい年で、江ノ島EYCJでのセーリング、3月バレンシアでのオレンジ杯、そしてその後のコロナウイルスによるロックダウンでセーリングが出来ず、多くの感情と不安な状況が続きました。
今回のチャンピオンシップは、僕が初心者からセーリングを始めて、両親の転勤で日本に移り住むまでの間に所属していたCNM(Club Nautic Masnou)というクラブが主催しました。
両親とスペインでの夏休みを過ごす間、Catalonian Sailing Federation (FCV)に所属する、Aクラス50名が参加するカタルーニャ選手権に出場する事が出来ました。
3日間のレース中、8-17ノットの様々なコンディションでレースが行われました。レース序盤は確固たる自信はなく、優勝争いが出来るとは考えていませんでしたが、4レースが終わった後に自分がいつも通りレースをすれば、充分に戦う事が出来るという自信が持てました。
ボートスピードと、レース中の正しい判断に集中する事で、たとえスタートが良くなかったとしてもTOP5以内でフィニッシュする事が出来ました。
8レースが終わった最終日、昨年のヨーロッパ選手権で4位だった女子の選手と4点差の2位で、僕はとても緊張していましたが、物事をシンプルに考える事と、結果を心配する事を止めて、スタート、アップウインド、ダウンウインドひとつひとつに集中してベストを尽くし、全てのリスクを排除する事が出来ました。
いつも成長の為の閃きを与えてくれるJordi Xammar、素晴らしいセールを供給してくれたノースセールジャパンの白石さん、僕のヒーロー達とコーチ達に感謝したいと思います。
ライバルセーラー達の中で、結果と高いパフォーマンスを出す事が出来た事を嬉しく思います。
このさきもセーリングを続けていくことがとても楽しみです！
