Leboucher PIERRE / Garos VINCENT (FRA)
NORTH RADIAL WON GOLD ,SILVER,BRONZE IN BOTH MEN AND WOMEN WITH FULL NORTH INVENTORY
The Pre-Olympic games was held in Weymouth 6-15th AUG.
The races were held in a full range of conditions on various race courses.
Pierre and Vince (FRA44) sailed fast and smart in the difficult conditions to win the Gold medal by 20 points after winning in 'Sail For Gold' held at the same venue.
For the girls, although Hannha/Saskia (GBR) had a comfortable lead at the beginning of the regatta, Ai Kondo (JPN) caught up very well to get them in the Medal race and win the GOLD medal.
All the sails used by these 6 Medallist teams are the designs chosen by them to suit their mast type or their own specific conditions and to match their sailing style. The technology of North Japan continues improving to the goal of ‘unlimited sailing science’.

North Radial Won Both Men and Women in 470 world 2010 in Hague!!

They brought new panel layout design in the Worlds after winning in Kiel week.
The race was held in 12-24knots of breeze during the race except first day where they had 5-6knots.
This is the venue we have strong current, big wave, sometimes flat water. so the very best performance is required.
North Radial share reached 95% in Men's top 10 results in this Worlds.

North Radial won in ISAF World Cup Miami OCR [2010.02.05]
North Radial achieved tremendous results as follows in 2010 Rolex Miami OCR Regatta.
The racing was held in light-medium wind conditions most of the time. This is a great result on the back of the recent 'Sail for Gold' in UK held in windy conditions. Each sailor picked their design from several of our standard models according to their own preference.

North 470 Radial Wins Two Gold in Beijing!!

Nathan Wilmot and Malcolm Page (AUS)
2008 Gold Medal
Elise Rechichi and Tessa Parkinson (AUS)
Amazing Results!!Australian Men and Women get 2 gold medals since they got 2 gold medals in 2000 Sydney Olympic.
We started development the radial cut design in the 470 class by using North's
original computer design program "MemBrain" since 2001 after the 2000 Sydney
games.
It is not easy to simulate the sail shapes using the computer because the rig of the 470 is too small to recreate the flying shape with air flow.
But the program North Sails Japan has been developing gradually since 2001 made it possible.
And now we use it for all the one design classes.
Designing the sails for the Qingao was the great challenge and has proven how
our system works effectively to improve the sail and rig design in specific
conditions like Qingdao.
You can see more detail about our design system in "Sail Design by Computer Simulation"
Nathan Wilmot / Malcom page 3 times world champions, and Elise Rechichi/Tessa Parkinson both from Australia won the GOLD MEDAL with North Radial Sails.
They spent the last six months to improve their boat speed for the Games
by working with us to finalize the rig and sail set-up and design. The Australian Team's speed in the expected light winds in China contributed to their consistent score through the racing.

Both Men and Women won the worlds 4 times in a row.!!!
NORTH SAILS 10 out of 10 in the Worlds! [2008.02.06]
MAXWELL/KINSOLVING(USA)
North Sails scooped all of the top ten placing's in the men's 470 World
Championships in Melbourne. Melbourne turned in a mostly unexpected
light to moderate wind regatta - where most teams were preparing for
some windier weather! This made the regatta very competitive but yet
again North Sails came out on top!
Not only did North Sails get 10 out of 10 in the Men's Worlds but they
won the Women's Worlds as well, gaining 1, 3, 4, 7. 8. 9. 10 - again an
amazing result.
MAXWELL/KINSOLVING won both World and Sail Melbouren in a row with marverous boat speed!!
We are really excited about our win at the 470 World Championships and are thankful for our choice in North Japan Radial Sails.
The Championship had a wide variety of conditions from light winds to heavy winds and both flat and wavy conditions. Our sails were very versatile and allowed us to compete with a top speed throughout all the conditions.
It made it possible for us to race well because we were able to be confident in our speed.
We recommend North to any 470 team.
Erin Maxwell
Although Melbourne is famous for its solid sea-breezes, light - medium winds made up around 70% of the races.
Erin and Isabell from USA Girls won the worlds for the first time after winning Sail Melbourne held one week before, close to the venue of the Worlds.
They sailed superbly in all races with consistent low scores.
The biggest advantage they had was keeping great boat speed all through both regattas which allowed them to play the wind shifts as they liked. The races favoured competitors who could play the middle in the shifty light stuff with the race course located in the big bay surrounded by shore in all directions, making the wind shifty in places.
They used C21-L5 mainsails with S5-B4 jib and V2 spinnaker. C21-L5 (not the standard design but anyone can order) is similar design to the N10-L5 but has a longer leech to make the trim easier.
Their sail set-up was almost perfect in all conditions due to very organized boat speed testing sessions made together with the top US boys last fall before the trials.
S5-B4 jib is still the most popular jib used by the top world top ranked sailors. It is fast in a wider range of conditions to keep top performance.
V2 spinnaker is getting more popular in the worlds top fleet because its performance shows great characteristics specially in light and windy conditions. It performs well in medium winds by playing the spinnaker pole height to stabilize the shape.

North Japan Sailors win 470 men and women World Championships in Portugal 2007!!! [2007.07.17]
The venue for the 2007 ISAF world championships is famous for its windy and wavy conditions. Sailors have been focusing on this event as it has been the start of the Olympic Qualification for the 2008 games, but they have also had to have all round equipment as it is expected to be lighter winds in Qingdao.
North Japan with their radial design has achieved this.
This regatta is the most competitive competition before the 2008 games. North Japan Radial showed amazing performance to dominate all top 5 places in the Men's championships. And all the boats in top 10 used North sails as you can see its results below.
This was the Dutch girl's third world championship win in a row, with North Japan radial
It was proved again that North Radial is essential to create the best speed to win the most competitive event the World championships.
We have been working hard on new designs and these have been tested and some are being used by the top 7 teams and these are being released to the general market now.
Well done to all North Japan Sailors on a great result at the World Championships 2007!

North Radial "MADE IN JAPAN" has been creating a lot of winning results!
The new 2007 design Jib S14-B4 and Spin V3 are released!! The North Sails radial design program is still improving to achieve the next goal!
The best designs always come from hard work and our constantly developing design program.
We have been researching further development in design for the mainsail, jib and spinnaker.
Last year we released the new mainsail N10-L5 and new jib S13-B4. Both designs brought a lot of amazing results last year.
The Dutch girls who have won the WORLDS twice first started to use N10-L5 from last spring, improving their light - medium wind range performance dramatically, and it definitely gave them obvious advantage to win their second WORLDS in a row.
We have been searching for the best design for the stiffer mast which is the trend for Qingdao conditions since last summer, and we succeeded in finding the right direction to achieve it.
We have completed two new designs that are available to all teams:
The first design suits not only Yamaha, but also some other masts which has similar stiffness in the fore-aft axis. The mast must be stiff enough to suit this mainsail.
Its performance has already proven to be quick in all wind ranges and especially in light and strong wind range.
The next one is the design developed for in breezy condition based on
N10-L5 design for the M7+ or proctor mast. This design is aimed to give the advantage for the 2007 Worlds in Portugal and
the 2008 Worlds in Melbourne. Both venues are renowned as generally windy.
We have now two jib designs which are S5-B4 (rounder entry) and S13-B4 (Flatter entry). There is an obvious difference in entry between them so the new design Jib has the entry in between, but with the high twist leech profile which keeps the slot between main and jib fairly open in all conditions.
The most popular design has been the A2 since it came out. On the other hand, the V2 spinnaker is very good in light wind or shy reaching, especially in breezy conditions. The A2 has the biggest projected area and good at both running and reaching. The new spinnaker has similar depth as the A2, but the advantage of new spinnaker is the ease of trimming and stability. The A2 still has the advantage in projected area, so you can make the choice according to the conditions or crew`s feeling when trimming it.

Marcelien/Lobka WON 470Worlds 2 TIMES IN A ROW!!!
Women's Winner 2006 NED Marcelien and Lobka
Rizhao was expected to have a little more wind than Qingdao and with similar current.
The race was held in various wind and wave conditions from light to medium.
The dutch girls Marcelien /Lobka won the women's worlds last year in the pretty windy venue of San Fransisco and in this season they had improved their boat speed drastically in light-medium winds by using a new design main.

4 peat in 470 World Championships!!
Women's Winner 2005 NED Marcelien and Lobka
North radial won 2005 470 world both in men and women.
North won 4 times in a row now.
The 2005 470 worlds was held on the city front side of San Francisco bay and it definitely lived up to its reputation as a windy venue with very strong currents.
Men's Winner 2005 AUS Nathan and Malcolm
Throughout the regatta there was a consistent 10-20 knots wind with a strong current. So during most of the racing, one side of the course was favored.
That meant boats could not make good up wind performance without speed.
It was obvious that both winning teams had a good set-up for the sails and
rig.
Nathan Willmot/Malcom Page(men) and Marcelien/Lobka (women) had great boat speed through the event to win the regatta.

North Radial won the Gold in Athens! North sails Japan designed 470
sails complete 3peat in Olympics!!
Paul Foerster and Kevin Burnham from USA used the
latest design sails in Olympics to win a GOLD medal. They performed
excellently well through the Game.
All the designs came out after
our huge effort for these three years with the final designs completed
May 2004 for SPA Regatta (which they won). We
have received the following message from Paul & Kevin straight
after their success as follows:
"Your North 470 sails gave
us a fantastic speed edge that was able to secure a GOLD medal
at the 2004 Olympics
in Athens.
The mainsail was so versatile in being able to achieve
the shape we were looking for in all conditions.
The spinnaker
was a rocket in the conditions in Athens. The flatter head
and open leech provided superior speed in light air. In the
breeze
she flew steady and we were able to change gears from sailing
low angles to high angles with ease.
The jib was easy to trim.
She was very easy to twist off with a nice round section remaining
low. It set up beautifully in light and heavy air conditions.
All
in all your sails are the BEST! I want to thank you for giving
us the speed edge to win the GOLD in Athens!
Thank you NORTH SAILS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Kevin & Paul”
Athens 2004 Gold Medalist USA
Kevin and Paul
We have been working on the radial cut design system
since the end of 2000. This new design method has proceeded very
quickly with great feedback from the world's
top sailors.
Through this period we have studied carefully the 470 sailing dynamics to
create the most advanced and effective 470 sail designs ever produced.
This year as soon as Paul & Kevin’s new
mast measurement numbers and setting data were sent to the head office
in April, we optimized their sails. We put all the information in
our design and analysis programs FLOW and MEMBRAIN to create the
new sail shapes.
Firstly we defined the target design to simulate
in MEMBRAIN where we can access exactly the same sail shape as the
one we have in actual sailing on the water. This is one of the biggest
advantages of our design program, and the accuracy is amazing. After
checking some flying shapes in MEMBRAIN, we could reach our targeted
flying shape over a wide range of wind conditions.
We found the latest design gives more effective air flow around the sails
and between the main and the jib to bring better thrust while keeping the
same lift.
Since 2001, we have worked with some of World’s
top sailors to customize their designs according to their demand
or our suggestion. Now Paul and Kevin have
proved their sail models must be one of the best, and we
have now released this design as the new world standard design.

3peat in 470 World Championships!!
Winner 2004 AUS Nathan and Malcolm
Nathan Willmot/Malcom Page won 2004 470 World
held in Zadar,Croatia.
They avenged their loss in last year's regatta.
So North Sails is three continuous years winning sails now.
Their sail inventory is
Main:A9R2+SP (Special Design)
Jib:S5-B4
Spin:A2
A2 spinnaker design is based on the A1. Stable and powerful with maximum
projected area. It is excellent for reaching too.
Nathan told us Sails produced from latest Design System is peefectly matched
with mast provided us more speed for winning in this regatta.
Results of North Sails Japan Users are 1,3,4,7,8,12,13,14,15,16,17,19,20
The share of top 20 is up to 65% now.
Our 470 Sails are getting popular and higher evaluated among world top sailors
since this year,so our share in 470 world is 55% of 154 participants.
